Axes

An axis consists of definitions in ground plan and elevation view. The needed input features are offered by the program.

The elevation window as well as the list containing numerical results ("VP Data" in the iconlv ) always refer to the currently active axis shown in the axis edit box.

All existing axes can be viewed in the axis list. This list can be used to create new axes and to change or delete existing axes. The arrow symbol next to the axis edit box opens this axis list.

Axis elements (points, lines, circles, spirals) are to be defined in the plan view and elevation window. See "Plan view window" and "Elevation window" for the description of input of these axis elements.

SettingDescription
Axis list

An axis is defined by its begin station, end station and station direction. The user defined begin station is the starting point of the axis. The end station is a result of the axis calculation in the plan view. The station direction can be positive or negative, the stations along the axis are either increasing or decreasing.

Insert axis

A new axis can be inserted into the opened axis list by using the symbols "Insert before" or "Insert after" . All existing axes are sorted by name. Hence, both symbols have the same meaning.

Modify axis

A selected axis can be modified by using the Modify tool. An input window allowing the necessary definitions is opened.

Delete axis

The selected axis in the list can be deleted by using the Delete tool. A confirmation is requested.

Activate axis

An axis is activated if its name appears in the axis edit box. An axis becomes active if the user selects one and confirms the selection by "OK". All numerical data ("HP Data" and "VP Data") as well as the elevation window refer to the currently active axis.
